A RARE PIECE OF EUROPEAN RELIGIOUS FOLK ART WITH A KNOWN STORY

Step back in time with this charming, original antique watercolor painting depicting the Crucifixion of Christ on Calvary. Created with a naive, folk-art perspective, this atmospheric piece features vibrant scenes of the crucifixion surrounded by figures, soldiers casting lots, and onlookers against a stylized landscape.

What makes this piece truly exceptional and collector-worthy is its incredible handwritten Dutch provenance on the backing paper. Notes detail the artistic description, biblical figures present, and a signed inscription bearing the name Antoinette Croch, born in Ruiselede on February 16, 1929, giving this historical artifact a deeply personal human connection.
