19th Antique Century Greek Orthodox Icon Apostle Philip Hand Painted Wood

antique Greek Orthodox religious icon depicting the Apostle Philip (Saint Philip), traditionally hand-painted on a wooden panel.

The Greek inscription above the saint reads: “Ο Απόστολος Φίλιππος”, meaning “The Apostle Philip.”

This is a particularly interesting example of traditional Orthodox Christian iconography, showing Saint Philip with a golden halo, richly colored robes and a blue background.

The icon has a strong antique appearance with extensive age-related characteristics including craquelure, surface wear, abrasions, pigment losses, discoloration and areas of deterioration. The wooden panel and reverse also show substantial signs of age.
