I visited Istanbul in January 2019 for the specific purpose of seeing Hagia Sophia, and it surpassed my expectations. Truly astonishing. (I visited the Chora Church, too, which is also impressive -- but also now a mosque.) I grieve for its loss to Christendom, so although the "Make Istanbul Constantinople Again" t-shirt is light-hearted -- even flippant -- it also expresses a sincere desire to see these places restored to their original purpose.
