Vintage Greek Orthodox Wooden Icon – Saint Pelagia of Tinos

Up for sale is a beautifully crafted Greek Orthodox religious icon depicting Saint Pelagia of Tinos (Η ΑΓΙΑ ΠΕΛΑΓΙΑ Η ΤΗΝΙΑ). Saint Pelagia is famously known for her holy visions in 1822 that led to the discovery of the miraculous Icon of the Annunciation (Panagia Evangelistria) on the island of Tinos in 1823.

The icon features a striking golden background with Saint Pelagia holding a cross. Inset into her vestment is a finely detailed vignette of the Annunciation of the Theotokos, commemorating the historical discovery. The icon is mounted on a solid wooden panel with a distinctively carved, red and gold-toned bordered frame.
