The Lives of Sts. Mardarije and Sebastian

This book contains hagiographies of the two newly canonized I Saints of the Church on the North American continent, who as the offspring of the Serbian nation have brought to the feast of the entire Orthodox Church their most beautiful personal gifts and the gifts of their people (cf. Rev. 11:10).

The main impetus for the publishing of this hagiographic work came from the desire to rekindle the memory of the God-pleasing personalities of Mardarije of Libertyville and Sebastian of Jackson, exactly now at the time of many jubilees tied to them. Inspired with the decision and support of the Episcopal Council of the Serbian Orthodox Church in North and South America, the writers of these two hagiographies have put together these two short works.

Sanctity in the Church has never been reduced to a conceptua dimension, but it has always striven toward the experience and the vision of God in Trinity. The mystery of the Church is for the saints living reality of the presence of the incarnate and resurrected God-mar Christ —through experience-in church services, revelation, relics holy icons, and words inspired by the Holy Spirit in the Holy Scriptur and in the great teachers of the Church, and in the transformation: mutual relationship between asceticism and prayer.
